Helldivers 2 September 17 Update Overview

Arrowhead Game Studios, the developer behind Helldivers 2, has rolled out a significant balancing patch as part of their 60-day roadmap. This update introduces numerous buffs and reworks across various weapons and support items, aiming to enhance gameplay experience. Here are the key changes you need to know.

Weapon Changes in Helldivers 2

R-6 Eruptor Returns with Improvements

The R-6 Eruptor is back with enhanced shrapnel mechanics. The new shrapnel no longer one-shots teammates and now has more projectiles. Additionally, the explosion damage has been increased by 33 percent.

Other Weapon Buffs

Multiple weapons have received buffs to make them more effective in combat:

  • Liberator and Liberator Carbine: Damage increased from 60 to 70, stagger from 10 to 15, and magazine reserves from seven to eight.
  • Liberator Concussive: Magazine now holds 60 rounds, but the maximum size is reduced from 10 to six.
  • Breaker: Magazine size increased to 16, and stagger boosted from 10 to 15.
  • Spray and Pray: Damage increased from 194 to 240.
  • Crossbow: Explosion radius increased by 50 percent, and explosion damage up from 150 to 350.
  • Diligence: Damage increased from 125 to 165.
  • Counter Sniper: Damage increased from 140 to 200, durable damage from 14 to 50, and stagger from 15 to 20.
  • Blitzer: Now has a weak stun effect that builds up per hit.
  • Torcher and Crisper: Both weapons have increased damage by 50 percent and armor penetration from three to four. Flame mechanics are reverted to pre-Escalation of Freedom update settings.

Support Weapon Enhancements

Strengthened Support Weapons

To tackle tankier enemies more efficiently, several support weapons have been strengthened:

  • Arc Thrower: Range increased from 35 to 55, jumps additional times, and moderate stun effect builds up on hits. Durable damage increased from 50 to 100.
  • Railgun: Durable damage increased from 60 to 225, and overcharged damage up from 150 percent to 250 percent.
  • Anti-Materiel Rifle: Durable damage increased from 135 to 180, and stagger increased from 20 to 25.
  • Flamethrower: Damage increased by 33 percent, and armor penetration from three to four. Flame mechanics reverted to pre-Escalation of Freedom settings.

Support Weapons Targeting Tankier Enemies

Certain support weapons can now effectively damage tankier enemies like Chargers, Bile Titans, Impalers, and Hulks. These weapons include:

  • Laser Cannon
  • Anti-Materiel Rifle
  • Heavy Machine Gun
  • Flamethrower
  • Autocannon

Strategic Changes

Eagle 500KG Bomb

The Eagle 500KG Bomb, previously criticized for its small explosion radius, has seen an increase in its explosion radius to better match its visual effects.

Emancipator Exosuit and Gas Rework

The Emancipator Exosuit’s durable damage has increased from 60 to 150. Orbital Gas Strike now deals less damage but induces blindness and confusion, serving as a crowd control tool.
