Destiny 2: Ascendant Challenge Overview
Destiny 2 presents players with a series of challenges in the Dreaming City, known as Ascendant Challenges. These challenges are part of the city’s complex curse, which runs on a three-week cycle. Each week, players have the opportunity to tackle one of the six rotating Ascendant Challenges to earn valuable Dreaming City gear, such as the reissued Waking Vigil, Tigerspite, and Twilight Oath.
Completing the Ascendant Challenge
Each Ascendant Challenge offers a piece of Legendary gear upon completion. Additionally, players can earn an extra piece by completing Petra Venj’s weekly bounty. This is crucial for those aiming to maximize their rewards, as players can have up to six weekly bounties active—one for each challenge.
To access an Ascendant Challenge, players need a Tincture of Queensfoil. This item can be obtained from Petra Venj or found in chests around the Dreaming City. Consuming the tincture reveals the hidden portal to the Ascendant Plane, where the challenge takes place.
Ouroborea Ascendant Challenge (Oct. 8 to 15)
Location and Objective
This week’s challenge, Ouroborea, is located at the Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sector in the Strand. The entrance is near the large gazebo on the area’s far side. Starting from the Divalian Mists landing zone, players should follow the path on the right through some rocks. The portal is found on the slope leading to the boss room.
Inside the Ascendant Plane, players will find numerous shielded crystals. The objective is to destroy these crystals, which requires first eliminating a series of Blights scattered around the area. These Blights can be hard to spot due to the dark environment, but an Eager Edge sword can aid in navigating the terrain quickly.
Once all Blights are destroyed, return to the central room to find the crystals unshielded. Destroy all of them to complete the challenge.
Earning Dreaming City Gear
With the recent Season of the Wish update, Dreaming City gear has become more relevant, boasting new perks that enhance their performance. The Blind Well remains a reliable source for this gear, although its increased difficulty level requires more effort.
Petra Venj offers weekly bounties that reward players with Dreaming City gear. Each week, these bounties require Dark Fragments and grant an Offering to the Oracle. Delivering this offering to the Oracle in the Spine of Keres provides an additional gear drop. During weeks when the curse is strongest, players can access Queen Mara Sov’s throne room, where an Ahamkara Bone awaits those pursuing the Cursebreaker title.
Daily bounties from Petra also offer gear rewards. Completing eight daily bounties and Petra’s weekly quest ensures even more Dreaming City gear, with all activities being character-specific. This means players can repeat these challenges across multiple characters to maximize their loot.
