How to Complete the Population Census Quest in Escape from Tarkov
Getting Started with the Population Census Quest
The Population Census quest in Escape from Tarkov is a task given by the Therapist. To start this quest, you must be at least level 12 and have completed the Pharmacist quest. The mission involves finding a journal that records the number of missing people in the city of Tarkov.
Locating the Housing Department
To find the journal, you need to head to the Housing Department located in the Streets of Tarkov map. This building is situated at the center of the map. Specifically, you can find it on Primorskij Avenue, across from the Pinewood Hotel. Look for a sky bridge opposite the Burger Spot and next to an IDEA poster. Walk under this sky bridge, and the Housing Department will be right in front of you. It’s a medium-sized yellow building that can’t be entered through the front door as it is boarded up. Instead, go through the playground on the left and enter via the red door at the rear of the building.
Finding the Journal in the Housing Department
The journal can be in one of five locations within the Housing Department:
Location One
After entering the building, go to the second door on the right. Inside, you’ll find a small office with a desk and bookshelf. The journal will be on the bookshelf.
Location Two
Continue down the hall to your left, then turn right. Enter the office on the right, which has a double desk with a lamp. The journal will be on the desk under the lamp.
Location Three
Return to the hall and keep moving in the original direction. In a room next to the staircase on your left is the main reception area with a filing cabinet and a long desk behind a counter. The journal will be in a small drawer under a pot plant on the desk.
Location Four
Proceed to the end of the hallway. There will be an office with a door on the left side of the hallway with three desks. The journal will be on the first desk on the right, hanging off the edge.
Location Five
If you haven’t found the journal in the first four locations, head upstairs. On the first floor, enter the first door on the left. Inside, you’ll find a bookshelf with its contents emptied. The journal will be between the darkened desk and the bookshelf, amongst other books.
Extracting the Journal and Completing the Quest
Once you have the journal, it’s time to leave. Exit the building and head back to the main road under the sky bridge. Make your way to an extraction point. The Collapsed Crane and Sewer River are good options if they are available to you. Be cautious of other players and Scavs as you navigate your way out, as the Housing Department and nearby buildings contain valuable loot and may attract others.
After successfully extracting, turn in the journal to the Therapist to complete the quest. Your rewards will include:
- 6,900 EXP
- 35,000 Roubles
- Two Salewa first aid kits
- Two Medical tools
- An increase in vendor reputation
