Introduction to the Perfect World Shanghai CS2 Major
The Counter-Strike 2 community eagerly anticipates November, as it marks the start of the Perfect World Shanghai CS2 Major, beginning on November 30th. This event is set to captivate both players and fans with a series of Regional Major Rankings (RMRs) taking place in Shanghai, China. Despite changes coming to the RMR system in the future, these events remain crucial as final qualifiers for the Major.
Format and Teams of the Shanghai CS2 Major RMR
The RMR format for the Shanghai Major closely mirrors previous iterations. A total of 56 teams will converge in Shanghai, vying for 24 coveted spots in the Major. These spots are distributed based on the regions’ competitive strength, determined by past team performances. Europe, with its historically strong teams, secures 14 spots, divided equally across two RMRs. Meanwhile, North and South America compete for seven spots, and the Asian region vies for three.
In Europe, the top eight teams from the RMRs progress directly to the Elimination Stage, while others begin in the Opening Stage. The European and American teams compete in a Swiss format, with the top seven advancing. In contrast, the Asia RMR employs a double-elimination bracket to determine the top three contenders.
